The development trend of paddle board
Over the past two years, we have seen a leap in technology in the field of inflatable wakeboards. Examples include Redpaddle's RSS system and RRD's PVC material combined with Kevlar strip technology. It's hard to foresee what new technologies will emerge in the structure and shape of inflatable wakeboards in the next few years. But one thing is for sure, as the brand ramps up its R&D efforts, the performance of the inflatable wakeboards will get better and better. It feels like the development trend of inflatable wakeboards will develop towards hard boards, but still retain the advantages of inflatable wakeboards.
The longevity of the inflatable paddleboard is unknown, as the first inflatable paddleboards are still in use today and perform well. Of course some of them are already soft, but not broken yet. Maybe someday in the future, we'll see some fences made of old inflatable wakeboards. These inflatable wakeboards are old but still usable.
Why is the air pressure on a paddleboard different?
This is a frequently asked question. While one board can only be inflated to 12psi, the other board can be inflated to 25psi. It depends on many factors, such as the construction of the board, the thickness and a clear understanding of the maximum inflation value of the board.
Certain board constructions can handle higher pressures. Generally speaking, the recommended pressure value of the thicker side of the board will be larger, and vice versa, the thinner board will be smaller.
The thickness of the board determines, in part, how much inflation to rush in. The same one-meter board, the 10cm board needs to be filled with more gas to show the same hardness as the 15cm board.
Be sure to know the maximum inflation pressure for the board. A good brand should know the inflation pressure limit of its own product, and has tested to determine the critical point of inflation damage of the board. (In general, it is a certain distance from their recommended value.) Be careful with some cheap boards with a recommended pressure value of only 10psi. It is very likely that they have not tested the pressure that the board can withstand. I don't know the capabilities of my board at all.
Ease of storage and transport are two of the most obvious advantages of inflatable wakeboards. It can be conveniently placed in the trunk of the car or in the storage room under the stairs. This is why many people now prefer to choose inflatable wakeboards.
Durable. For inflatable wakeboards, there are fewer hassles. Generally speaking, it is not easy to find a soft lawn to put your hard board on when you get out of the water to do something else temporarily, sometimes it can only be put in the parking lot. But you only pay attention when the board is in good condition, and when the board has the first scratch, you don't care so much about where to place it. So for a hard board, it's at its best when it's taken out of the store. But the inflatable wakeboard is different. If you keep it properly, it will still be the same even if you take it out two years later. (Unless it gets chewed on by your puppy!) And for small children, inflatable boards are also a priority.
Ease of Sale: Inflatable wakeboards sell better than hardboards due to the above two points. Just pack it up, pack it and go. Even though it was run over by a truck, it came out the other end in perfect condition. In addition, the second-hand board of the inflatable water ski will be more assured to buy. As long as he does not open the glue, there will be no other problems, and the effect of scratching is not much different from the new one.
Aside from the sales aspect, the inflatable board leaves some to be desired. In summary, there are two main aspects: the shape of the edge and the stiffness of the board. For inflatable wakeboards, the shape of the edge is the same from head to tail, which affects the speed and maneuverability of the board. The shape of the head and tail also has a big impact on the performance of the board, which is where inflatable wakeboards can be difficult to improve.
In terms of racing boards: If you want the board to be faster, the edge of the board will be better, especially the edge of the tail of the wakeboard should be thin, so that it will not smear. This is why the edge of the rear of the hard board is very thin. And the harder the board, the stronger the power of the board to move forward. So a rigid racing board will be faster than an inflatable racing board, especially in waves.
Surfboard: The rounded edge is easier to grasp, but if the edge can be gradually rounded to pointed, it will be easier to maneuver and the effect of catching waves will be better. Inflatable wakeboards do not surf as well as hardboards. When surfing with an inflatable board, you find that you have to push harder on your back foot to perform better in turns.
Why do the prices of inflatable wakeboards vary so much?
This question is difficult to answer, it involves many convenient reasons, such as: exchange rate, production cost, direct selling or distribution, R&D cost and quality control, etc. Today we only discuss the following three points: 1-Direct sales 2-R&D cost 3-Quality control
Direct selling model: The direct selling model is a very popular model all over the world. This model is based on factory production, using some well-known websites or sales channels to reach end consumers directly, omitting the links of middlemen (dealers, stores, etc.). 99% of the quality of such a product will not be particularly good. This is because big brands spend huge amounts of time, experience and money testing boards for better quality. And through continuous testing, to ensure that the boards that reach consumers continue to maintain a relatively high quality level. These brands will sign agreements with their own factories or outsourced factories that do not allow them to sell directly.
Buying boards from the store will obviously be slightly more expensive. But you'll get more product information and usage advice from the store. And the products in the store will provide after-sales packaging to prevent any problems with the board. Buying from a store or brand can ensure that your board needs to be replaced or a problem occurs, it is easier to find parts or solve problems faster, without extra hassle. Retail stores are reluctant to buy some boards with questionable quality or incomplete after-sales service. When you buy a board, do some research ahead of time, and if you can't find any information on the board, don't rush to buy it just because it's cheap.
Shop from brands you've heard and trusted. Take a look at the material and quality of the board. If this brand doesn't understand materials, they certainly don't understand inflatable wakeboards. Look at the number of stitches of the drawing air cushion of the inflatable water ski. The more drawing stitches, the harder and more durable the board is. Please try it out before buying. This is the best way to make sure your board works. Good stuff is not cheap, cheap is not good stuff. If the board is new and cheap, there must be a reason for it to be cheap. So don't be surprised and incomprehensible when you receive the board and find it more like an airbag. Also pay attention to the air pump and backpack that come with the lower board. Most of the pumps that come with the boards are of decent quality and of the same size and performance. But there are still some inferior products. You can experiment with their differences yourself. If there is only a board but can't charge it, it's useless. pressure and thickness. If you buy a 10cm thick board and its maximum pressure value is 12PSI, then I can tell you for sure that your board will be more like an air bladder. Don't overlook the fin system. Make sure the fins are attached with small pegs or screws, not directly inserted. Otherwise, they will be easily lost. Hopefully you won't have to buy replacements, if the day comes, you'll find that board accessories from a well-known brand or retail store are much easier to find than board accessories that you can just buy online.
Inflatable wakeboards, some people love it and some people really don't. But for now, one thing's for sure, inflatable wakeboards are part of the wakeboard industry. Personally, I've been using inflatable wakeboards since they first came to the UK. There are many well-known brands of good boards that are a little more expensive, but still worth buying. So before you buy a wakeboard, I suggest you do your research and use it first. If you buy the right board, you can enjoy them happily for many years, maybe they will outlive you~
